چکیده

Ocimum gratissimum is a plant spice widely used in African traditional medicine to treat pain-related conditions. However, the anti-inflammatory mechanisms underlying this activity and main active ingredients O. have not yet been fully characterized. To isolate identify constituents of extract their murine macrophages. Chromatographic techniques spectroscopic data were for compounds isolation identification. Inflammatory conditions produced cultured RAW 264.7 macrophage cells by application lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of aqueous leaves extract of Ocimum gratissimum (Labiate) in rodents.

The aqueous leaves extract of Ocimum gratissimum was investigated for anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects in mice and rats. The models used to study the effect on nociception are the acetic acid-induced abdominal constriction test, hot-plate method in mice. The anti-inflammatory effect was investigated employing the formalin-induced hind-paw oedema in rats. The extract caused a signi...

Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Methanolic Extract of Ocimum Gratissimum (Labiate) on Experimental Animals

The Methanolic leaves extract of Ocimum gratissimum was investigated for anti-inflammatory effects in rats. The model used to study the effect on anti-inflammatory is Formalin Induced rat paw edema. The extract demonstrated a significant (P< 0.001) anti-inflammatory activity at all the doses (50,100 and 200 mg/kg body weight i.p.) tested group and standard group (aspirin 20mg/kg) compared to co...

Anti-inflammatory actions of pentacyclic triterpenes.

Pentacyclic triterpenes (PTs) as aglycones of saponins have a wide distribution in plants, and many of them have been used as anti-inflammatory remedies in folk medicine. This survey critically reviews the effects of PTs on proinflammatory mediator signalling pathways and data from experimental animal models and clinical trials. Because the knowledge of their actions is far from being satisfact...
